Deegan apparently met the women that he had held captive on an escort website last December according to authorities. He soon began prostituting the women to other men and collecting the money for himself; as well as providing transportation for the girls. He kept the girls in a drug induced state most of the time. Whether it was on cocaine or sleep medication. Authorities also say that Deegan quickly took control of his victims’ lives by monitoring their trysts with john, tracking them with GPS. He also threatened them and hid cameras in his home to watch them.
Back in December Deegan was arrested for sexual battery after one alleged victim contacted the police saying that she found a tape of Deegan raping her while she was unconscious on sleeping meds. He was released on a $250,000 bond, but was arrested again back in April for buying and selling crack cocaine. While arresting him at his home officers stumbled across the homemade sex tapes as well as traps and doors with the knobs taken off.
Two other women came forward and also reported that Deegan medicated and raped them, streaming the acts online. There were apparently other letters women had wrote Deegan that had also suffered through his abuse according to the two women. When the victims weren’t working for Deegan they were kept locked away in the house where Deegan could watch and threaten them.
One of Deegan’s neighbors heard about the arrest and expressed great fear of who he lived next door to. This is what he anonymously told The Gainesville Sun, “About three weeks ago, a car followed my daughter as she walked through the neighborhood, then the car pulled over to his house. When I heard human trafficking, he could have been looking for my daughter,” the man said. “One night a truck drove up and dropped this girl off in the driveway. She was in a fetal position, moaning. Girls were screaming over there. Some of them would be outside on the phone, and they would be cursing.” Deegan is being held on $300,000 bond and his next court appearance is on June 24th.
