The dental hijinks began in late May when the police found the boy hiding in Alpine village St. Gervais on May 21. The officers questioned the young boy and he claimed that he had just escaped from a attempted abduction from the nearby town of Bagnols. The boy then elaborated on the story telling law enforcement that a scar-faced villain tried luring him to his car for directions while he was heading to his dentist appointment. The boy said that’s when the man pulled him in his car and took off. It was only by luck the boy said that he was able to escape from the car when it had stopped in St. Gervais.
The story seemed to be believable to police. Especially considering that he gave a very detailed description of his assailant. The boy claimed that he was a European-looking man in his 30’s, with a muscular build, standing 5-feet-7-inches tall and had a vertical scar on his right cheek. He also told police what he was wearing and the type of car he drove. This elaborate story had police scouring the city looking for the man for an entire month. Eventually, however, the police reviewed security footage in Bagnols and called the boy in for questioning again. That’s when the boy confessed that he made the whole story up. No charges were filed against the young boy. I just wonder if his parents ever made him go to the dentist. I mean you can’t always fake a kidnapping.
