So your a new parent and you want your child to be safe at all times. To make this happen you get a new, high-tech, baby surveillance monitor. That way you can listen and watch your baby at the same time. As well as have the ability to speak to your baby to calm them down.

Sounds like an awesome idea right? Well these two parents got a very unpleasant surprise when they decided to do this exact thing.

Heather and Adam Schreck were sound asleep one night until about midnight when a strangers voice woke Heather up. The sounds were coming from her cell phone which was live streaming their 10-month-old daughter Emma’s room. She quickly picked up the camera to see if anyone was in the

room.

Heather looked at the camera surprised that it was moving all on its own and a voice was shouting at the baby to, “Wake up!” Her husband Adam quickly ran into the room to make sure no one was in there and to figure out what was going on.

Once in the room he realized that no one was in there, but then the camera turned to face him. The speaker then started to yell obstinacies at him so then Adam just unplugged the camera. Heather and Adam then realized that their home hadn’t been broken into, it had literally been hacked into.

This type of thing happens more than most people think. It’s not just a way to mess with your sense of security, even though I’m sure it does quite a bit. Really sophisticated hackers can use this simple camera that is linked in through your wifi connection to gain access to your whole network.

They use the camera system as a launching point and can steal your personal information and even your identity. They can even use your network to hack into someone else’s network so that they won’t be as easily tracked. The best thing to do is to know how to be safe when acquiring things like security cameras in your home.

Always check for firmware updates for your system because most of the time they are security updates that prevent things like this from happening. Also make sure that your passwords are different from your network, to your computer and monitor systems. This will make it harder for hackers to gain access.

You shouldn’t be too scared to get this type of technology in your home because of things like this because the pros defiantly outweigh the cons. Just be smart and informed.
