Harriet Tubman Receives Official Vote To Be On The $20 Bill.
When young adults were asked who they would rather have on the$20 bill, Andrew Jackson or Harriet Tubman, the answer was unanimous: Who’s Andrew and Harriet?
But when these fifth-graders at Laguna Beach, California elementary school were asked how they felt about it, they were much more educated!
“There are no words,” said fifth-grader London. “I was just too excited that I couldn’t breathe – I almost started crying.”
So the people have spoken. More than 100,000 voters from the “Women on 20s” campaign want to see Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill instead of Andrew Jackson.
The “Women on 20s” movement hopes to put pressure on Pres. Obama to change US currency, though it is ultimately up to the treasury secretary Jack Lew to make that decision.
