Nobody watched you like a hawk while you played outside, nobody wore a helmet, and seat belts were not anything taken seriously or even worn for that matter.

Real metal slides that would burn your ass in the summertime
Riding in the back of trucks
No seatbelts
Free range children – yes, that was actually a thing
Kids enjoyed riding bikes instead of being on the Internet
Secondhand smoke, it was everywhere
Cooking on the stove by yourself, even if you were home alone
No buckling up in the back seat – it was playtime, pure and simple
If your mom says she didn’t smoke when she was pregnant with you – she’s lying
Kids could actually stay home alone after school without their parents getting in trouble
Older kids would watch their younger siblings when parents were at work and actually had fun doing it
Playtime was never supervised by adults
In the 80s smoking was considered cool, not gross
You could let a 7-year-old play with a woodburning kit unsupervised – try that with today’s kids
