Mom Warns Parents About Dangers Of ‘Duct Tape Challenge’ Seen Online

A mother of a young teenager is hoping her son makes a full recovery after he fell and was seriously injured while imitating a video he saw online of other teens performing the ‘Duct Tape Challenge.’

Skylar Fish was playing with friends and reenacting the challenge they saw online. Skylar had his arms and legs wrapped tight with duct tape, lost his balance and then hit his head on a concrete and metal window frame. The impact crushed his eye socket, cheekbone and caused bleeding on his brain that required immediate surgery.

Sarah Fish, Skylar’s mom, is happy he is alive and recovering. “I don’t know what I would do if I lost him. They told me over and over that… he’s lucky to be alive,” Fish said Monday.

Fish wants to warn parents about the dangers of this potentially deadly game that teens are trying all over the country. Fish said, “They’re just looking at what’s fun, what’s cool, what’s going to impress their friends. ‘I can break out of this duct tape. I’m the strongest. I’m the best.’ They’re not thinking what if I fall and hit my head.”
