Religious Conservatives Say “Stop Taking Ice Bucket Challenge, They Kill Babies!” The #IceBucketChallenge is sending waves of support across the internet. On the surface it seems to be a noble cause worth supporting. But Religious Conservatives warn if you donate to ALS you are killing unborn babies for stem cell research. How do you feel about religious conservatives telling you that you are an accomplice in murder for dumping ice on your head?
Where do embryonic stem cells come from? According to the Christian Post, “Embryonic stem cell research, which requires the destruction of pre-born babies, is inherently unethical and a violation of fundamental human rights. Even materialists must admit that promises of its benefits have failed to deliver. There is no good reason to condone this practice, in fact, all it does is taint the ALS Association”, said Lila Rose, President of the Pro-Life advocacy group Live Action. The ALS Association website has a page devoted to answering questions about stem cell research. The page notes that there are “ethical concerns” with conducting research on human embryos but does not condemn the practice. Some insists “Why not bring good out of evil ( talking of abortions) by using otherwise wasted stem cells to find cures for awful diseases? The problem is that when this source of stem cells runs out, those on the other side will demand more stem cells from more embryos.” So will you still take the Ice Bucket Challenge and continue giving to charity, ALS?
