New Study Says Fast Food Is Making Your Kids Dumber

New Study Says Fast Food Is Making Your Kids Dumber.

A new study by the Ohio State University shows some not so surprising results. Lack of nutrition is turning children into failures.

The consumption of hamburgers, chicken nuggets and french fries has been linked to lower test scores in children, according to this new study.

Researchers discovered that eighth-grade students who ate fast food daily over the previous three years were behind those who ate no fast food.

The scores show these eighth-graders behind four points in reading; three points in math; and four points in science.

The lower test results are linked to a lack of nutrition in the fast food, especially iron. These foods also contain high levels of fat and sugar that affect children’s attention span and reaction times.

The study, which began in 2004 by Ohio State University and the University of Texas, found that more than two thirds of fifth-graders said they had eaten fast food at least once in the previous week.

A little more than half said they had eaten fast food one to three times, and 10% say they had eaten fast food daily.

Not only is this junk food linked to slowed learning, but it is also the number one cause of obesity in children.
